The Hamilton Selectmen established the Economic Development Committee (EDC) in 2004 in accordance with the recommendations of the Master Plan update completed in that year and at the request of the Hamilton Planning Board. Among its charges, the EDC is to initiate work on ways that Hamilton could modify its land use policies so as to permit non-single family residential projects (like age-restricted and commercial development) and thus expand its tax base and increase its property tax revenues without adding school-age children to the town
schools.
