Rules and Regulations Governing the use of Patton Park
The Town property known as Patton Park and located on Bay Road and Asbury Street, including tennis courts, skating rink, basketball court and playing fields was established and is maintained as a recreational area by the Town. The Board of Selectmen for the Town of Hamilton, by virtue of its authority to make rules for the use and government of the Park of said Town, and for breaches of such rules to affix penalties, hereby ordains that within the limits of Patton Park, except with the prior written consent of the Board or its designee, as outlined below, it is forbidden:
- To be in or on park property from one-half our after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise except while open for public skating or any other lighted recreational use.
- To cut, break, injure, deface, defile, ill-use any building, fence, swimming pool, or other construction or any tree, bush, plant, or turf, or any other thing on property of said Town.
- To have possession of or consume any alcoholic beverage, or play any game of chance, or commit any disorderly or improper action; or disturb the peace in any way, or conduct oneself in such a manner as to interfere with the rightful enjoyment of the public upon these grounds.
- To refuse to obey the orders or requests of either the Selectmen or the Police, or other agents of the Selectmen, or to refuse to assist them when required.
- To make a fire except in designated fire places with permission of the Fire Department.
- To have possession of or discharge any destructive weapon firearm, firecracker, torpedo, or fireworks; to hunt, trap or shoot; injure or have possession of any wild animal or bird; to injure or disturb bird nest or eggs.
- To post, paint, affix or display any sign, notice, placard or advertising device; or engage in business, sell or expose for sale, or give away any goods, wares or circulars.
- To dump material or refuse of any kind within the park grounds.
- To use recreational vehicles or to play golf within the park grounds.
- To park on any lawn area.
Groups may be permitted to use the recreational facilities if duly authorized by permit on each occasion and subject to the above rules. A fee of $50.00 has been established for 15 to 125 people. Over 125, but with a maximum of 200, a fee of $100.00 will be charged with an additional charge for a police officer on duty. Board of Health and Fire Department regulations being observed for all groups.
Permits must be signed and returned to the Hamilton Town Clerk, with a copy to the Police Department, and shall contain the following information:
- Estimated number of guests.
- Phone number of parties in charge of function.
- A statement that releases the Town from any liability.
- The hours of the function.
- Description of function being held.
Additional Charges
Bandstand:
An additional fee of $25.00 will be charged.
Swimming Pool:
Under the direction of the Recreation Department
Park Superintendent:
A Park Superintendent fee of $38 per hour for certain events will be required. A four hour minimum will be charged.
Compliance with the foregoing rules and regulations is a condition of use of these premises. Any person willfully doing any things above forbidden shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars.
The Town reserves the right to reject a permit.
