The Hamilton Fire Department will run its fourth annual Citizens’ Fire Academy this spring.
The shortened version of previous academies will run from 6:30 p.m. to about 9 p.m. for four consecutive Wednesdays, beginning on March 21. It will end on April 11 and graduation will be on April 18.
The Citizens Fire Academy is designed to familiarize citizens with the operation and function of the Hamilton Fire Department. The classes will cover various topics such as a history and overview of the department, fire safety, protective clothing, portable fire extinguishers, fire apparatus and equipment, auto extrication, special operations and more.
Classes will be taught by members of the Hamilton Fire Department.
There is no charge to attend but participants must be 16 years or older and have a parent’s signature if they are under 18. The class is limited to 20 applicants and preference will be given to Hamilton residents.
Applications may be picked up at the Hamilton Fire Department, 265 Bay Road or the Hamilton Town Clerk’s office at Hamilton Town Hall, 577 Bay Road. You may request an application packet by contacting Fire Chief Philip Stevens at 978-468-5560 or download it from the Hamilton Fire website.
The deadline to submit an application is Monday, March 12.
