The Hamilton Department of Public Works would like to remind residents about the annual Outdoor Water Use By-Law. It does not allow automatic watering of lawns between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from May 1 to Sept. 30 annually.

The most wasteful act of water use is overwatering your lawn at night or watering during the day’s heat. As much as 80% of the water used during the day evaporates. That means 80 cents on every dollar spent watering is wasted along with the same outcome with over-watering at night.
