Good afternoon, this is Hamilton Town Manager Joe Domelowicz. I am reaching out to share some information about the town’s transition to our new larger recycling containers as part of Hamilton’s curbside collection program. As part of a renewed contract with Casella hauling, Hamilton is being transitioned to new 96-gallon recycling carts as part of the standard recycling program. These carts are able to be picked up by an automated truck operated by a single driver – which will help Casella reduce employee injuries and streamline the weekly recycling collection. Casella will also be using new automated trucks to collect the existing 35-gallon trash carts and 15-gallon compost carts.
Distribution of the new 96-gallon carts has begun and by now, most residents should have received their new recycling cart. If you have not previously contacted the DPW regarding a new cart or to request a smaller 64-gallon cart, please call the Department of Public Works at 978-626-5227 – Casella is working with our staff to accommodate these requests as quickly as possible.
Collection via the new automated recycling truck has been pushed out to begin the week of July 13, so there is time to get to people. For trash collection, you can continue to use your existing carts for trash and compost. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through the last few changes and get ready to launch the new service.
