Hamilton, MA—The Town of Hamilton announces a new resident-focused improvement in service delivery as part of ongoing efforts to modernize municipal operations.

Hamilton has introduced a simplified payment process for municipal services using the UniPay software. This system supports both the Town Clerk’s Office and the Town Treasurer’s Office, allowing residents to pay bills and licenses more efficiently at the Patton Homestead.

Municipal offices are currently operating temporarily from the Patton Homestead property while the Town Hall Restoration Project is underway. Although the timeline for returning to Town Hall has not yet been finalized, the new payment system will be fully implemented once the move takes place and renovations are complete.

Residents can now pay online or in person using a secure QR code—replacing the previous cash-or check-only option for in-person payments. The system also supports popular payment methods like Venmo and PayPal, with Apple Pay expected to be available soon. Additionally, applications and payments for licenses will now be handled at the same service desk, eliminating the need to visit multiple offices.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to modernize how we do things,” said Town Treasurer Peggy McLoughlin. “A lot of people prefer to pay with a credit card or apps like Venmo—writing checks or carrying cash just isn’t as common anymore. We’re excited to offer a more modern system that better reflects how residents manage their money today.”

The Town continues to seek ways to enhance accessibility, reduce wait times, and provide more efficient and user-friendly services.
